The era of Barack Obama as U.S. president is gradually winding down, with less than six months left before we get either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump in the White House.
One of the memories of Obama's tenure will be his presence on social media, a dynamic highlighted on Saturday by Twitter as Obama's verified presidential account, @POTUS, hit the 10 million follower mark.

Launched back in 2015, the account set the Guinness World Record for the fastest Twitter account to reach a million followers. That feat was achieved in under five hours.
Because of that early popularity, it's no surprise that Obama has hit the 10 million mark in just over a year on the platform.

In addition to celebrating the milestone, Twitter put together a video of Obama's best Twitter moments.

The mini-retrospective is a fitting way to remember the first truly social media-savvy president as he serves his final months in office.
And as proof that the president's administration really is on top of its social media game, the official White House account retweeted Twitter not long after it posted the video.
Once Obama leaves office, the account gets turned over to whoever becomes the new president. Many people will keep a close eye on how much that 10 million follower number changes over the course of the next administration.
