Thousands of gamers have gathered online to honour the death of Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars.

The most impressive celebrations took place in The Old Republic -- amultiplayer role-playing game based in the Star Wars universe.
A video that emerged on Reddit shows players congregating in an area called House Organa, on the planet Alderaan, the ancestral home of Princess Leia.
One player went so far as to create a new character which resembles Princess Leia in order to allow other players to pay homage to her.

In the footage, players are seen dancing, cheering, waving, holding a moment of silence or celebrating with fireworks before Leia's character.
It ends with lightsabers raised to the sky.
Some fans have requested that BioWare -- the makers of Star Wars: The Old Republic-- add some sort of tribute, like a statue at her family's residence. However, that's a bit tricky considering the game is set thousands of years before Leia was born.
Players of the most recent Star Warsgame, Battlefront, are suggesting on Reddit that the game's development studio DICE release a new version of Princess Leia to commemorate Carrie Fisher.
Both the subreddit and official forums are full of tributes and outpourings of grief for Carrie Fisher.
