You'd never guess it if you looked at Saturday Night Liveratings, but Dave Chappelle has some interesting thoughts about what Donald Trump's presidency means for comedians today.

While at in Toronto for the Canadian Screen Awards, Chappelle stopped by CBC News and shared his thoughts about Canada, the state of comedy and of course, the unavoidable topic of the president of the United States.

"I think Trump's kind of bad for comedy," Chappelle explained after being asked about comedy's role in discussions around politics. "Most comics in the states are starting to do the same jokes just because Trump is so on everybody's mind, so it'll be nice when have to talk about him as much."

Despite that, Chappelle isn't dismayed by Trump-centric comedic world.

"I love my genre and my genre allows me to be honest than most people, but it's still comedy. It's got to be in the spirit of levity because it kind of helps us get through tough times," he explained, before discussing about how with help of new blood and old faces like John Stewart returning to the scene, comedy is particularly healthy right now.

We'll be able to witness his own return with two new specials from his "vault," which will be on Netflix March 21.
