It's finally here. The new Apple iPhone 15 has officially hit stores. But there's already a big problem: some new iPhone owners on social media are sharing issues with Apple's latest mobile device when trying to get through the setup.

Apple is aware of the problem. According to the company, the issue comes up when a user wants to transfer data from their previous iPhone to their new iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro with the latest iOS. To do this, they must choose the "From Another iPhone" option during the setup. However, upon doing this, some users might experience their iPhone 15 freezing and showing the Apple logo.

Don't worry if your iPhone 15 is stuck on the Apple logo. There's already a fix.

Update your iPhone 15 immediately

If you just bought your phone and are seeing this article before setting up your device, you'll be able to save yourself some time. Go through the normal steps to set up the iPhone 15 without utilizing the data transfer option. Next, download the new update that Apple just released, iOS 17.0.2, which fixes the data transfer issue.

Some users have reported that the iPhone asked them to update to the new iOS during the initial setup. If this happens to you, perfect. It'll save you even more time.

If not, you'll have to go through the whole setup process as mentioned above, then reset your phone to factory settings, and then go through the setup process again. This time, however, you can pick the "From Another iPhone” data transfer option without any issue.

What if your iPhone 15 is stuck on the Apple logo already?

So, you didn't see anything about all of this prior to setting up your new iPhone, and now your brand new iPhone 15 is stuck in a boot-up loop on the Apple logo.

Again, don't fret. Apple already has a way to fix this too. But you're going to need to use your computer to help resolve it.

First, we need to put your iPhone into recovery mode. To do this, using a cable, connect your new iPhone to your computer. Then, press and release the volume up button followed by the same quick press and release for the volume down button. Next, press and hold the side button until the Apple logo on your iPhone is replaced with an image of a computer and a cable. On your computer, find the new iPhone in Finder or in iTunes and choose the "Restore" option. Apple says if your iPhone restarts while your computer is still downloading the update, you will need to go through the previously mentioned process again to put your phone back into recovery mode.

After the update is installed, users can go through the setup process on their iPhone once again. If your new phone is any of the new iPhone 15 models, you can go ahead and transfer data from your old phone or via an iCloud backup.

(Note: Apple says users upgrading to a model older than iPhone 15 who are coming across this iOS 17 glitch will need to transfer via an iCloud backup. This is because the transfer glitch has not been fixed for these previous models yet.)

Of course, having a bug affect a significant number of users during setup is not ideal for the launch of a new device. But, if you go through the above steps, new iPhone 15 users should have their new phone up and running in no time.
